Travoprost & Timolol eye drops
Travoprost & Timolol Eye Drops is a prescription eye drop that contains two active ingredients — Travoprost (0.004%) and Timolol (0.5%). These two medicines work together to lower high pressure inside the eye.
Travoprost belongs to a group of medicines called prostaglandin analogues. Timolol is a beta-blocker. Together, they form a combination that is more effective than using either medicine alone.
This eye drop is manufactured for patients who need better control of their eye pressure and is available in a 2.5 ml sterile bottle.
Uses of Travoprost & Timolol eye drops:-
Travacom 2.5 ml eye drops are used to treat:
- Ocular hypertension — when the pressure inside your eye is too high
- Open-angle glaucoma — the most common type of glaucoma, where the fluid in the eye does not drain properly
- Patients who have not responded well enough to a single eye drop medicine
Your doctor may also prescribe this for other eye conditions. Always follow your doctor’s advice.
Benefits:-
Using Travoprost & Timolol Eye Drops regularly as directed by your doctor can help you in the following ways:
- Reduces and controls high eye pressure effectively
- Combines two medicines in one bottle, making it easier and more convenient to use
- Helps protect your vision by preventing damage to the optic nerve
- Suitable for patients who need stronger pressure control
- Once-daily dosing means less disruption to your daily routine
How does it work?
High pressure inside the eye happens when fluid (called aqueous humour) builds up and cannot drain out properly. If this pressure stays high for a long time, it can damage the optic nerve and lead to vision loss.
Travoprost works by helping the fluid drain out of the eye more easily, which reduces the pressure.
Timolol works differently — it reduces the amount of fluid being produced inside the eye in the first place.
Together, both medicines lower the pressure from two different directions, giving better control than one medicine alone.
How to Use?
Follow these steps each time you use your eye drops:
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching the bottle.
- Tilt your head back slightly and look up at the ceiling.
- Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
- Hold the bottle above your eye and squeeze one drop into the pocket. Do not let the tip touch your eye or eyelid.
- Close your eye gently and press the inner corner of your eye (near your nose) with one finger for about one to two minutes. This helps prevent the medicine from entering your bloodstream.
- Wipe away any extra liquid with a clean tissue.
- If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
- Replace the cap on the bottle after use.
Dosage of Travoprost & Timolol eye drops:-
The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye, once daily, in the evening.
Do not use more than one drop per day unless your doctor tells you to. Using extra drops does not improve results and may increase side effects.
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is already the next day, skip the missed dose and continue as normal. Never double the dose.
Always follow your doctor’s prescription. Do not change your dose on your own.

FAQs of Travoprost & Timolol eye drops?

Yes, but leave a gap of at least 5 to 10 minutes between different eye drops. Always let your doctor know about all medicines you are currently using to avoid any interactions.
2. Will this medicine change the colour of my eyes?
Travoprost & Timolol Eye Drops may gradually darken the iris (the coloured part of your eye) in some patients. This change can be permanent. It is more noticeable in people with mixed eye colours. Speak to your doctor if you are concerned.
3. What should I do if I accidentally use too many drops?
Rinse your eye gently with clean water and contact your doctor or pharmacist right away. Do not try to correct it by skipping the next dose.
4. Can I stop using Travoprost & Timolol eye drops if my eyes feel better?

5. How long will Travoprost & Timolol eye drops take to see results?
Eye pressure usually starts to reduce within a few hours of the first dose. Your doctor will check your eye pressure regularly during follow-up visits to confirm the medicine is working well for you.
